Leading through Science
Research is integral to the success of the eucalypt plantation industry. Research has lead to the development of better silviculture practices for soil amelioration, weed control and nutrition and to the development, through breeding, of superior tree genotypes that are well suited to Western Australian conditions. With research, an understanding of site related pest management issues is also being addressed. Hansol PI have collaborated with Conservation and Land Management (CALM) and Forest Products Commission (FPC) researchers to develop drought risk potential models and more recently have joined with 19 other forest industry companies and agencies in the new Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) for Forestry which has been operational since 2005. |
The new CRC for forestry is jointly funded under the Australian Government CRC program with partner and Australian Government contributions and aims to undertake identified research deficiencies across various aspects of the plantation industry. A full CRC Project Review is available in PDF format. |
